Camps Amateur Theatrical Society first started out life as CADS (Camps Amateur Dramatic Society) way back in or around 1990 under the producing and directing skills of Marge Beech who lived at that time in Nosterfield End, Cambs.

CADS had asked a small group of the Castle Camps school children to take part in their Queens Jubilee Show in 2012, from there we decided to start a separate children's section which CATS Secretary Dawn Tabram set up and continues to organise. The name of these up and coming 8-18 year old starletts is ‘Top CATS’.

This in turn helped to set the seed for the re branding of CADS into CATS because although not apparent at the time, there were other groups with a similar name and not too distant from our location which, at times created problems with advertising and show reports etc. So the decision was made and we changed our name.
  .
We now run as one group using our own names for our own shows. Fortunately for CATS we now have the option to cherry pick young talent who are available for each show.

Originally, most of the CADS cast were resident in the Camps area which included Camps End and Shudy Camps. Of late, the majority of our cast now live in Haverhill, Suffolk and on arrival at rehearsals treat the evening as a social get together (much to the dismay of the Director!)
